I was able to use the original ON/OFF switch on the saw to control power to the motor as the variable frequency ac drive has low voltage terminals to control it remotely. Those are the small wires exiting the bottom of the box in the picture. I think I just used sprinkler wire for that. This is a lot better, not to mention safer, than trying to hit a little button on the face of the variable frequency ac drive while the saw blade is spinning.
Well that's it! I have been very satisfied with this product and may revisit this review at some point down the line after it has been in use to review its durability.
My first impression is that it is not a good idea to install a variable frequency ac drive on one pump. You probably cannot save power by installing a variable frequency ac drive on one pump. If you want to save energy simply shut down one pump.
If you install variable frequency ac drive on one pump, that pump may run slower co***red to other pumps. At same time, the pump will create a lower head. Back pressure from the other pumps will keep the check valve closed (if there is a check valve), you will create a dead head for the pump. For the explosive fluid, heat created from the pump dead head may explode the whole plant.
25 years ago variable frequency ac drives were very new. The motors built for that time usually were made for the standard 50-60hz operating range. A good variable frequency ac drive can be infinitely adjusted from 0-120 hz. THose old motors will not take it. Trust me, been there, done that. Im just wondering where you are using a variable frequency ac drive in a woodshop? Im always in for great ideas and i have access to all kinds of drives. |
